Burnsides Bridge

Whats
the situation on the right, General?
Sir,
the Yankees are preparing for an assault. They seem to be bringing across
a full division, but every man, gun and wagon is using the bridge. There
are three fords available to them now, but they seem intent on staying
dry. At the rate they are funneling their men and equipment across that
skinny little bridge well, sir, it could take two hours to get em across
the way they're coming. And it doesn't appear that one man is going
to come forward till all are across. I could be wrong, sir, but that
is how it seems.
Lee
shook his head in amazement. One brave man, Pete, is all they need
today, on any part of the field.
I
pray they don't find him, sir.
They
won't. My greatest fear now is that the soldiers will begin leading
the generals. Only then will we be beaten.
